"It is not a woman's writing experience that makes her a vital member of the retreat, but her willingness to dive deeply into the passion of her writing and take risks."

Pre-requisites for Joining the Retreat

The retreat is more than a writing workshop. It has the two other components: creativity and ritual. I see these three: writing, creativity and ritual, as a weave that creates the foundation of the retreat and allows us all to explore the dance of creativity that holds our passion as creative women and demands us to be risk takers. Risk and passion are the essence of creativity to me.

The retreat is a glorious dance of creativity where we join in a circle of women writers to explore the creative journey through our writing. This is nurturing, challenging and transforming. As Emily is the only leader on the retreat, it is important that you know and trust her to guide you. It is important that you have a sense of how she works and know that you like the way she teaches beforehand. It is equally  important for her to know you, your writing and your process. This makes the retreat a richer experience, especially for women who are newer to writing.

Therefore, there is a prerequisite for this retreat:

  1. Previous work with Emily

  2. Or a series private sessions either on the phone or in person.

Emily's coaching is based on developing writers by opening them to the creative journey both in terms of techniques and the imagination/creative unconscious.

How would your life be different
if there had been a place for you to go?
A place of women to help you learn the ways of women.
A place where you were nurtured from an ancient flow sustaining you and steadying you
as you sought to become yourself.
A place of women to help you find
and trust
the ancient flow already there within you
waiting to be released.
A place of women...
How might your life be different?

"I send this to you as a gift from the Goddess. We now have a place to go, to belong, and you just have to go on-line to be back in the circle. So keep well, all you Turtleweavers, and keep in touch."

~Vicky Storik, from the 2002 retreat
