I am
by Jean Aloe
written on the 2003 retreat in Italy. I
am not in the wind, the earthquake, the fire.
I am the still small voice of my inner desire.
I am woman tall with long flowing hair.
I am woman who dances with bells on the stair.
I run up the down, I run down the up.
No one can stop me, I am unstuck.
I sway in tall grasses, I float on the winds.
There’s laughter in my belly, there’s honey in
my limbs.
I can bend without breaking, I am a strong feather.
I fill and expand like a balloon with no tether.
See me arise, I am mist on the hills.
I am any desire my wise heart wills.
I can for I am, I am so I can.
Freedom I’ve chosen, so free I am.
